Upcoming Mercury Retrogrades

Mercury SRx (Retrograde) periods tend to be the cosmic “my dog ate it,” explanation for why and how nothing is going as planned.

It’s a time period that anticipates a higher probability of mechanical malfunctions and glitches. Think of the movie Ground Hog Day, where you find yourself forced into a do-over of a situation when you least expect it. It’s when the check gets lost in the mail, the voicemail box is full and the email bounces back with an error message.  It can behave like a communications traffic jam.

It’s generally not the time to launch any new endeavor because an important component is likely to reverse–or someone involved may change their mind.  For this reason, you’ll want to refrain from committing to a new job, a domestic move or signing any important contractual paperwork during a Mercury retrograde period, as the odds increase that something falls through or someone could back out.  You would be best served to hold off on any purchase of electronic device or large ticket items during this time because you may have to take it back to the store or else there could be shipping delays.

Is there anything more Freddie than Mercury to be found during one of these time periods?

Yes. If you dedicate this time to revisiting old territory, it’s a great time for covering old ground and researching a project. If you are hoping to recover a lost item that went missing during this period, it stands a good chance of reappearing shortly after the retrograde ends. It’s a great stretch for revisiting, re-doing, research, anything that requires introspective quiet time to think. And don’t be surprised if an old friend or colleague turns up on the scene…because often a Mercury retrograde implies the potential appearance of someone you haven’t seen in a while.

Please note that these retrograde periods do not imply that the planet slams on the brakes on the first day and then shoots off like the Looney Tunes’ Roadrunner at the end date. It’s more like a gradual slowdown the week prior, and then takes a few days or so for Mercury to get back up to full speed, even if the retrograde period has officially ended.
